Training Held on Application of Law on Personal Data Protection for Employees in Games of Chance Administration and PDI Fund

On May 11, representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, accredited lecturers Marina Grbić, Marin Cetinić, and Marko Milošević, held training in the Commissioner’s Office premises on the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection for employees of the Games of Chance Administration in the Ministry of Finance. Fifteen participants attended the training, and the lecture was followed by a discussion where numerous doubts about the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection were resolved. Emphasis was placed on problems in the personal data processing practice, which employees of the Administration have access to while performing tasks within their jurisdiction, and also on how the protection measures can be applied.

On the same day, at the invitation of the PIO Fund, accredited lecturer Aleksandra Lakićević held a training in the field of application of the Law on Personal Data Protection for employees from the Sector for Public Relations. The training held at Tara was attended by thirty participants. The main focus was on the lawfulness, principles, and personnel protection measures in the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection

Spring Conference on Personal Data Protection

Commissioner Milan Marinović and Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković participated in the European Conference of Data Protection Authorities, which was held in Budapest from May 9 to 12, 2023 known as the "2023 Spring Conference". At this Conference, current issues in the field of personal data protection were discussed, and the ones standing out: The impact of new technologies on personal data protection, Consideration of the judgments of the European Court of Justice and the European Court of Human Rights related to the field of privacy protection and child protection on the Internet.

The Conference participants also discussed and adopted changes to the name of the Conference ("the Conference of European Data Protection Authorities"), the Resolution on the need to improve cooperation in the field of Personal Data Protection and Competition rights, and amendments to the Rules and Procedures of the Conference adopted in 2017 in Limassol.

Extraordinary Inspection Supervision in Ministry of Education and Ministry of Interior

Due to the interest and concern of citizens regarding letters sent to schools requesting the compilation of lists of "problematic" and "antisocial" children, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection informs the public that, without delay and under his powers established by the Law on Personal Data Protection, the proceeding of extraordinary inspection supervision was carried out in the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Interior and that in the aforementioned inspections the following was determined:

that the School Administrations of the City of Užice and the City of Zrenjanin received a letter from the Police Administrations but did not make such lists, nor did they submit them to the Ministry of Interior, because that would be contrary to the procedures prescribed by law;

that the Ministry of Education sent a directive to schools not to submit any data to the MUP according to the letter in question;

that the Ministry of Interior did not issue a directive for the actions of Police Administrations in the aforementioned sense, but that local Police Administrations sent the letters in question on their own initiative.

"History of Police in Serbia" Monograph Promotion

On April 26, 2023, Commissioner Milan Marinović attended the promotion of the monograph "History of Police in Serbia" by Branko Bogdanović and Ivana Krstić Mistridželović, on the premises of the University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies in Belgrade.
The University of Criminal Investigation and Police Studies, in its desire to build an objective image of the Serbian police in the past and summarize the current knowledge about its origin, work, and role, has published this monograph with the support of the PE "Post of Serbia".
