"By the adoption of the Amendments to the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, the Commissioner was allowed to open offices outside of his Head Office in Belgrade, so that all citizens of Serbia would have equal access to this institution. Today, we are opening Commissioner's second Regional Office in Niš," said Commissioner Milan Marinović at the official opening. He emphasized that until now the citizens of Belgrade were somewhat privileged in the possibility of exercising their rights under the jurisdiction of the Commissioner because they could personally more quickly and easily submit requests to the Commissioner and get information about their rights. With the opening of the office in Niš, the citizens of Niš will now have the same equal possibility.

The Commissioner expressed his special gratitude to the Mayor of the City of Niš because she recognized the significance of opening the Commissioner's office for all citizens of Niš, Citizens' Associations, Local Media, Public Authorities, and all Data Controllers in Niš and its vicinity. Furthermore, he also pointed out that the Commissioner was allocated extraordinary office space, and that all the responsible had done a great deal to ensure that it was perfectly tailored to its intended use.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Milan Marinović, called on all citizens of Niš and its vicinity to ensure they make the most of the fact that from today there is a Commissioner's office in Niš.

The occasion of the ceremonial opening of the Commissioner's second Regional Office was attended by the Mayor of Niš, Dragana Sotirovski, along with the City Administration officials, the Niš Misdemeanor Appellate Court Head of the Department, and representatives of numerous media.

The Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection informs the public that on Monday, July 31, 2023, starting at 12:00 p.m., the official opening of the Commissioner's Оffice in Niš will be held at Generalа Milojka Lešjanina Street no. 26.

This is the second office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection to be opened outside the Commissioner's head office after the Novi Sad office opened in December last year. There are also plans to open another office in Kragujevac to make it possible for citizens from these parts of the Republic of Serbia to more straightforwardly exercise their rights established by the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and the Law on Personal Data Protection.

The official opening of the Niš Office will be hosted and attended by Commissioner Milan Marinović, Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković and members of the Board of Commissioner's Office, the Mayor of the City of Niš, Ms. Dragana Sotirovski, with her colleagues, to whom Commissioner Milan Marinović expresses his gratitude for the support in the opening of the Office.

Today, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Milan Marinović, participated online in the ninth meeting of the Stabilization and Association Committee, which was held in Brussels.
At the meeting, in the section on political criteria, the Commissioner pointed out that the cooperation of the Commissioner's institution with the National Assembly is at a satisfactory level. In particular, he emphasized that for the effective exercise of extended powers in the field of both rights protected by this institution, it is necessary to strengthen personnel capacities and that the National Assembly should approve without delay the announcement of public vacancies for filling positions in the Commissioner's Office on an indefinite period.

On July 6, 2023, in the organization of the Chamber of Health Institutions of Serbia, representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Sofija Radojičić and Olgica Radovanović held training on the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance and the Law on Personal Data Protection. There was a discussion during and after this training, attended by 150 people, and moderated by Marin Cetinić, which resolved numerous doubts regarding the application of both laws under the Commissioner's jurisdiction. Special emphasis was placed on solving the problems faced by Information Officers in their daily work, and also on the abuse of the right to free access to information of public importance.
