Third Personal Data Protection Training for MUP Employees

The third training for the Ministry of Interior (MUP) employees, organized in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia, was held on April 15, 2024, in the Novi Sad Police Department. The training was held by representatives of the Commissioner's Office Aleksandar Kocić Ranđelović, Marin Cetinić from the Sector for Education and Certification, and Ostoja Kalaba from the Commissioner's Novi Sad Office, together with the representative of the MUP Dragan Obradović.

The training was attended by 30 police chiefs and officers from the Novi Sad Police Department. The training went along with a long discussion and exchange of opinions, where numerous doubts faced by police officers in their daily work were resolved. The focus was mostly on erasing data from official records and the purpose of personal data processing in the field of internal affairs.

Training for Attendees of „Business Compliance“ Study Program

On Saturday, April 13, 2024, representatives of the Commissioner's Office, accredited lecturers Marina Grbić and Aleksandra Lakićević, held a lecture at the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, to the students of the "Business Compliance" study program, on the topic of the application of the Law on Personal Data Protection.

The aforementioned study program is the result of cooperation between the Faculty of Law in Belgrade and the Association for Compliance in Business from Belgrade, to whose invitation the representatives of the Commissioner's Office responded and held this lecture.

Around 70 participants attended the lecture.

Panel Discussion: Monitoring Implementation of New Law on Personal Data Protection – Požarevac

A panel discussion was held in the Požarevac City Hall, on Thursday, April 16, 2024, starting at 10:30h, on the topic of monitoring the implementation of the new Law on Personal Data Protection, attended by Data Controllers and all interested representatives of Civil Society Organizations and the media.

Commissioner Milan Marinović, Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković, and representatives of the Commissioner’s Office participated in today’s panel discussion.

During the panel discussion, the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, Milan Marinović presented the current state in the field of personal data protection in the Republic of Serbia.

Deputy Commissioner Sanja Unković presented the current position of the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, the competence of the Commissioner with particular emphasis on personal data protection. Representatives of the Commissioner’s Office from the Sector for Supervision of Personal Data Protection and the Sector for Harmonization of Regulations and Normative Affairs also participated in the panel discussion.

In the upcoming period, panel discussions, which will be implemented in 15 selected Local Self-Government Units within the scope of project support, are of utmost importance for raising the general public’s awareness and informing citizens.

The organization of the panel discussion is supported by the project “Support for Strengthening Rule of Law in the Republic of Serbia”(EU for the Fight Against Corruption and for Fundamental Rights) financed by the EU and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), whereas the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) is in charge for its implementation.

A panel discussion was held in the Hall of Negotin Municipality Assembly, on Wednesday, April 15, 2024, starting at 10:30h, on the topic of monitoring the implementation of the new Law on Personal Data Protection, attended by Data Controllers and all interested representatives of Civil Society Organizations and the media.
