Today, accredited lecturers of the Commissioner's Office held professional training on the application of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, for employees of the PUC "Belgrade Water Supply and Sewerage". A special focus of the training was on the amendments to the Law in the part regarding misdemeanor liability as well as the obligation to create Information booklets on the platform launched by the Commissioner, the Unified Information System of Information Booklets.

Proactive access to information has been improved both by increasing the number of authorities that are obliged to publish the Information Booklet on their work, and the number of information that will thusly be available to citizens. For the first time, citizens will be able to find all those information in one place, for all public authorities.

The Commissioner once again reminds all public authorities that the legal deadline for fulfilling this obligation expires on November 16, after which the Commissioner has the legal power to file a request to initiate misdemeanor proceedings.

Representatives of the Commissioner’s Office on November 2, 2022, held a professional training at the round table "Right to access information of public importance and personal data protection" in Novi Pazar. This is the second round table organized by the Commissioner in cooperation with the OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities.

These round tables aim to inform the local self-government representatives and media, today of Raška and Zlatibor counties, about the rights and obligations of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, as well as the Law on Personal Data Protection.

On October 26, 2022, the Commissioner attended the ceremonial session in the Assembly of AP Vojvodina to mark the 20th anniversary of the existence of the institution of the Provincial Protector of Citizens - Ombudsman, and on the same day in the evening hours, he attended the swearing-in of the President and members of the Government of the Republic of Serbia in the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The Office of the Commissioner held a round table called "The right to access information of public importance and personal data protection" today in Bujanovac. Representatives of local self-governments and media from the Pčinj and Jablanica Districts got acquainted with the basic provisions of the Law on Free Access to Information of Public Importance, the Rights and Obligations of Authorities, the actions of Authorized Public Information Officers, the role and obligations of Personal Data Protection Officers, as well as the relationship between the right to access information of public importance and the right to personal data protection.

The importance of these mechanisms was discussed by Slavoljupka Pavlović, Acting Assistant Secretary-General, Milan Tomanović, authorized Personal Data Protection Officer, and Marko Milošević, head of the Education Department.

The event was organized in cooperation with the OSCE Mission in Serbia, the Office of the Coordinating Body for the municipalities of Preševo, Bujanovac and Medveđa, and the Standing Conference of Cities and Municipalities.
